During NSW Youth Week, The Australian Cadet Corps celebrates young people who turn values into action. This year we recognise Corporal Finlay Dodds, who is a powerful example of what that looks like in our community.
Recognised as a Youth Week Award winner and featured by Central Coast Council, Finlay continues to demonstrate what it means to lead with purpose. As a Corporal and Leader with the Tuggerah Lakes Unit, he brings a level of maturity, integrity, and commitment that has a genuine impact on those around him. He leads by example, creating an environment where younger cadets feel supported, included, and motivated to grow, while actively mentoring them to build confidence and responsibility.
Finlay’s leadership extends well beyond the cadets. His involvement across the Central Coast community is both consistent and meaningful, contributing to events such as ANZAC Day services, Remembrance commemorations, Clean Up Australia Day, and local fundraising initiatives. His ability to inspire others to get involved has helped strengthen youth participation and community connection, reflecting not just commitment, but influence.
His efforts have been recognised at the highest level, with Finlay named the 2025–2026 National Cadet of the Year and receiving the Commissioner’s Achievement Award, alongside completing over 100 hours of community service. These achievements highlight the respect he has earned from both his peers and leaders, and the significant contribution he continues to make.
Finlay embodies the spirit of Dream. Dare. Do., not just as a theme, but as a way of leading. He dares to take on responsibility, follows through with action, and in doing so, sets a strong example for other young people across the Central Coast.
We congratulate Finlay on this well-deserved recognition and thank him for the positive impact he continues to have within our community.
