Cadets Review 2026
Bringing the Corps together to showcase skills
A national gathering at Sydney Olympic Park
On Sunday, 13 September 2026, the Australian Cadet Corps came together at Cathy Freeman Park, Sydney Olympic Park, for its inaugural Cadets Review. This first national Review marked an important milestone in our organisation’s growth.
The Review provided an opportunity for members to demonstrate their training across drill, music, aviation, maritime skills and physical activities. Education displays, photography and scale models added a creative dimension, showcasing the breadth of skills developed throughout the Corps.
Discipline on display
The drill competitions put teamwork to the test. From uniform inspections and fall-in procedures to the marching diagram, each competition required careful preparation and attention to detail.
Section, squad and precision drill provided opportunities for cadets and their NCOs to demonstrate their skills together.
Taking skills to new heights
The remote-controlled aircraft competition combined practical design with flying skills. Competitors were challenged to develop their aircraft and demonstrate speed and control through drag and agility races.
The competition encouraged members to explore aviation through hands-on construction, problem-solving and safe aircraft operation.
Bringing history to life
Education displays explored the 125th anniversary of the Australian Army and/or the Royal Australian Navy. Held on Level 1 of the adjacent Locker Room Hotel, the displays gave cadets an opportunity to share their research through informative and creative presentations.
Scale models, dioramas and photography also highlighted members’ patience, craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Music on the march
Band and solo music competitions brought another element to the Review, combining musical ability with the discipline of performance.
Solo competitors prepared the compulsory piece, “The Thunderer”, alongside a piece of their own choice, providing an opportunity to demonstrate both technical skill and individual expression.
Practical skills and teamwork
The maritime competitions challenged members to demonstrate accurate semaphore signalling and practical knot tying. Correct technique was central to both activities, reinforcing the value of getting the basics right.
The relay obstacle course added a physical challenge, requiring members to work together through a sequence of exercises and running stages.
A proud finish to the day
The afternoon parade brought units together with the National Colour Guard and National Massed Band for presentations and the closing ceremonies.
A special moment was the presentation of the Colours to the Shepparton Sabres Cadet Unit, marking an important milestone for the unit.
We also extend our thanks to our special guest from the Royal Australian Navy for joining us and supporting the 2026 Cadets Review.
Congratulations to all award recipients and to every member who took part. Thank you to the officers, judges, volunteers, families and supporters whose time and effort helped bring the 2026 Cadets Review together.
