Commissioner Trent Aylward (Commissioner of ACC)
Commissioner Aylward pleased with Growth in First Year
In its first year of operation, the Australian Cadet Corps Inc. (ACC) has made significant strides in establishing itself as a reputable and successful organisation. At the Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on Saturday 19 November 2022, Commissioner Trent Aylward and the Deputy Commissioners reported on the organisation’s achievements and plans for the future.
According to Aylward, the ACC has successfully procured uniforms for its members, with the National Procurement Commander now taking on the role of finalising orders. Fundraising efforts have also been successful, with members working hard to raise money for both Units and National funds to purchase uniforms and other necessary items.
Commissioner aims to double membership
Aylward’s goal for his four-year term as Commissioner is to grow the organisation sustainably, and he hopes to see each department achieve their own goals and objectives by working together. He aims to double the organisation’s membership by this time next year, providing members with better and more exciting opportunities.
Success in Fundraising, Procurement, and Administration
The Administration Department, led by Deputy Commissioner Brendan Gregory, also reported on their achievements since the organisation’s formation in February 2022. These achievements include: establishing the organisation’s constitution and registering as an Incorporated Association, obtaining relevant insurance for members and volunteers, establishing an operating manual containing rules, procedures, and by-laws, commencing work on multiple policies, registering as a charity and not-for-profit organisation, joining the charity and not-for-profit network (Our Community) to gain better access to grants, and establishing a website and working on marketing materials for recruitment.
Training Department praised for competent and dedicated staff
The Training Department, led by Deputy Commissioner Peter Allen, reported that all positions within the department remain fulfilled and that the duties of those positions are satisfied by a very competent and dedicated class of people.
Mr Allen stated the Training Department has made significant progress in the past year, drafting handbooks that will facilitate the development, assessment, and certification of all training courses. Additionally, the department has held planning meetings to draft instructions and guiding documentation for the induction of new officers, to ensure they receive the necessary training upon joining the organisation. Furthermore, the department has created various education videos to model future online instruction for cadets and their instructors.
Overall, the ACC has had a successful first year, with the organisation and its members working hard to establish it as a respected and successful organisation. With plans for steady growth, the organisation looks forward to providing its members with even more opportunities in the coming years.
