About Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since the end of the First World War to honour those who have died in the line of duty. In Australia, Remembrance Day is observed every year on 11th November to recall the end of First World War hostilities. Hostilities formally ended “at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month” of 1918, in accordance with the armistice signed by representatives of Germany and the Entente.
Commissioners request to Members
“This Remembrance Day, I request that all members take part in whatever way they can in observing remembrance and honouring those who have served and died in the line of duty. We, as an organisation remember all who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Officers and Cadets are requested to keep the legacy alive by attending a service, reflecting in silence at 11am, and wearing a poppy. Lest we forget. “
