Honouring Tradition: Australian Cadet Corps on ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day continues to stand as one of Australia’s most significant national commemorations. It is a day where communities come together to honour the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of those who have served. This year, Australian Cadet Corps units across the country once again demonstrated their commitment to preserving these traditions, representing both their communities and the future of remembrance.

Among those proudly taking part were the Riverwood Hornets, who marched through the streets of Sydney with professionalism and pride. Their strong turnout and disciplined presence reflected countless hours of preparation and a deep respect for the occasion. Marching alongside veterans and community groups, the Hornets embodied the spirit of ANZAC, mateship, resilience, and service.

Further north, the Tuggerah Lakes unit began their day in the early hours, participating in a solemn dawn service. Standing in quiet reflection as the sun rose, cadets paid their respects in a moment that continues to resonate across generations. Following the service, the unit joined the local ANZAC Day march, proudly representing their community and reinforcing the importance of remembrance through active participation.

It is also important to recognise the Shepparton unit, one of the newest additions to the Australian Cadet Corps. Despite being recently established, they have already demonstrated a strong commitment to upholding ACC values within their community. Their willingness to engage, contribute, and represent the organisation this ANZAC Day reflects the spirit and future strength of the Corps in Victoria.

These contributions are more than ceremonial. They are vital. The involvement of cadets ensures that the legacy of ANZAC is not only remembered but carried forward. Through participation in events like dawn services and marches, young Australians gain a deeper understanding of history, sacrifice, and national identity. They learn the value of service, discipline, and community, lessons that extend far beyond a single day.

The Australian Cadet Corps continues to play an important role in shaping the next generation, and ANZAC Day serves as a powerful reminder of that mission. To the Riverwood Hornets, Tuggerah Lakes, Shepparton, and all units who participated, your efforts honour the past and strengthen the future.

Lest we forget.
