Canberra Airport Open Day Shines as Canberra Bombers Cadet Unit Takes Flight!
The Canberra Airport Open Day, held on April 18th, 2026, was nothing short of spectacular. With 36,000 tickets made available, the event saw a full house as families, aviation enthusiasts, and curious visitors poured into the airport grounds. The open day was hosted at the western end of Canberra Airport, with easy access provided via free shuttles and parking at Majura Park. Attendees even enjoyed free public transport access, making the day smooth and accessible for all.
A fantastic start for the Canberra Bombers Cadet Unit
The weather couldn’t have been better—clear blue skies and mild temperatures created the perfect atmosphere for a day of exploration and connection. Attendees were treated to a variety of aviation displays, from aircraft tours to interactive exhibits. But among the standout attractions was the debut of the Canberra Bombers Cadet Unit’s recruiting stand.
This newly formed cadet unit made waves right from the start. Their interactive stand drew large crowds, especially thanks to their immersive flight simulator. Prospective cadets—many for the first time—got a taste of the thrill of flight. It was a hit, with teens and children eagerly lining up to experience piloting simulations while learning about the discipline, leadership, and adventure the cadet program offers.

The Unit Commanding Officer shared his enthusiasm:
“Today was beyond what we imagined. The engagement was incredible. We had families and young people asking about cadet life all day long. I’m confident we’ll see 40 to 50 new cadets joining us in the coming weeks.”
