Boost for Tuggerah Lakes Cadet Unit
“Securing the site means we can protect the facility, reduce ongoing vandalism and rubbish dumping, and refocus our time and energy where it belongs, delivering quality youth programs”
Unit Commanding Officer, Peter Allen
The Australian Cadet Corps is proud to share positive news for the Tuggerah Lakes Cadet Unit, following the announcement of a significant funding boost reported by Coast Community News.
The Tuggerah Lakes Cadet Unit has secured more than $64,000 through the NSW Government Community Building Partnership Program, with support from David Harris, Member for Wyong. The funding will be directed towards critical security improvements at the Unit’s Watanobbi facility.
Strengthening Safety and Security
The grant will fund the installation of secure perimeter fencing around the Cadet Unit’s grounds. This upgrade is designed to prevent vandalism and illegal dumping, issues that have placed strain on volunteers and disrupted youth activities in the past.
By improving site security, the Unit will be able to reinstall security cameras and reduce ongoing repair and clean-up efforts. Most importantly, it will allow volunteers to focus their time and energy where it matters most: delivering structured youth development programs to local young people.
Supporting Youth in the Community
The Tuggerah Lakes Cadet Unit provides opportunities for young people aged 8 and above to develop leadership, discipline and confidence through structured training, community engagement and ceremonial activities.
An upgraded and secure facility ensures that cadets can train in a safe and stable environment. It also strengthens the Unit’s ability to partner with other community organisations and increase participation across the region.
This investment represents more than infrastructure. It is an investment in youth engagement on the Central Coast. Active cadet programs provide young people with purpose, positive role models and practical skills, contributing to stronger and more resilient local communities.
The Australian Cadet Corps extends its sincere thanks to the NSW Government and all supporters involved in securing this outcome. We look forward to continuing to serve the Tuggerah Lakes community with Integrity, Discipline and Respect.
